Taiwan-Japan International Joint Accreditation Project, which has been a collaboration between TWAEA and JUAA, two major professional assessment and evaluation organizations, have been conducting actual certification services for universities in Taiwan and Japan since 2018. And the Project has been focusing the mission of globalizing the institutional development of these two countries' universities.

The first international joint accreditation assignment was participated by one university from Taiwan and another one from Japan. On February 22nd, 2019, TWAEA led an assessment and evaluation team to Japan's Akita International University for a one-day on-site visit and assessment works. There were 3 assessment and evaluation committee members representing Taiwan, and there were 2 representing Japan. In addition, representatives from TWAEA and JUAA also accompanied the visit.

The one-day visit and assessment was conducted in English throughout the process. On-site visit and assessment procedure included school introduction, tour of campus facilities, meeting with teaching personnel and students, comments and feedback among schools and committee members, and other activities. Certification results would be made at the end by consensus of the committee members. The next stage of the Project would be for the Japanese assessment and evaluation committee members from JUAA to visit Taiwan in April to conduct on-site visit and assessment.

The official initiation of the Taiwan-Japan International Joint Accreditation Project on-site visit and assessment could be considered a major milestone in the process of education assessment and evaluation development in these countries; it was also a major driving force behind the two parties' cross-border development and collaboration in the assessment and evaluation mechanism. In addition to the Taiwan-Japan International Joint Accreditation Project, TWAEA has also collaborated with Germany's international assessment and evaluation organization FIBAA and Thailand's international assessment and evaluation organization ONESQA in the execution of Taiwan-Germany International Joint Accreditation Project and Taiwan-Thailand International Joint Accreditation Project, continuing its efforts to assist Taiwan's higher education to actualize the goal of international education. For the schools who have applied to participate in the international joint accreditation, they would have the opportunity to obtain the acknowledgment of these professional international assessment and evaluation organizations, which would in turn allow them to be more effective in the implementation and advancement of all levels of international events.
