Ministry of Education Announces Approved Results for the Expansion of the "Regional Industry Talent and Technology Cultivation Base Project"
Since 2022, the Ministry of Education has been implementing the four-year "Regional Industry Talent and Technology Cultivation Base Project" (hereafter referred to as the Project) to support universities and colleges in establishing 20 regional talent cultivation bases. Entrusted with the execution of the Project, the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) has, as of the end of 2023, assisted in the approval of 18 national key industry talent cultivation bases, covering fields such as information security, offshore wind energy, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
In response to the demand for AI talent driven by the AI technology wave, the Ministry of Education launched an expansion initiative in July 2024 to integrate AI applications into the existing 18 bases. A total of 12 proposals were submitted, and TWAEA assembled expert review teams to evaluate the projects through document reviews and multiple presentation assessments. Ultimately, 10 proposals were recommended for funding. These included fields such as semiconductor industry equipment management and testing, railway mechatronics, smart electric vehicles, B5G low-earth orbit satellite communications, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The approved projects aim to enhance base capabilities through AI empowerment, aligning talent cultivation programs with current industry AI application demands and strengthening industry-academia collaboration. Future evaluation mechanisms, including performance assessments, will be implemented to ensure effective execution and maximize the Project's talent cultivation impact.
